The Russian invaders are trying to involve the Crimean Tatars from the temporarily occupied peninsula in the war against Ukraine.

This was reported by the public initiative “Crimean Idea”.

The occupying authorities of Crimea forcefully take men from their homes and bring them to mobilization collection points for their further inclusion in the Russian armed forces.

The invaders are actively operating at places where most Crimean Tatars live. According to human rights defenders, about a thousand people have already been taken from the areas of compact residence of the indigenous population of Crimea. The figure may be inaccurate.

According to representatives of the public initiative, the operation began at 6 a.m. on September 22. Mobilization raids were carried out mainly in places of residence of Crimean Tatars. These are the 6th and 7th microdistricts of Bakhchysarai, the village of Stroganivka near Simferopol, the villages of the Dobrovska Dolyna, the massif of Sary-Su, Saky, Azovske, Kirovske, and Zuya.

Police officers were also involved in the raids: in particular, checkpoints were deployed at the entrances to settlements, reinforced by soldiers of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

“Some apartments were entered by deception: they shouted that someone needed help, and when people opened the door, they handed over a summons. There are also cases of mobilization from the workplace – thus, several male teachers received summonses in Zuya, as well as medical workers in Bakhchysarai,” the report says.

Immediately after the summons was handed out, many men were forcibly put on a bus and taken to the territory of the military headquarters.

The public initiative emphasizes that recruiting residents of occupied territories into the army of the occupying country is a war crime.

Attention is drawn to the fact that once again the main victim of the crime is the indigenous people of Crimea – the Crimean Tatars.

As previously reported, on September 21, 2022, the Kremlin declared partial mobilization in Russia.

According to the official authorities, the conscription will cover only those citizens who have served in the ranks of the armed forces, acquired certain military specialties and relevant experience. But there is information on the Internet that they want to send to the war those men who do not fall under the decree on partial mobilization.
