Imported components were found in the Russian missile guidance systems for the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems.

The ammunition of the Tornado-S MLRS includes 9M544 and 9M549 guided rockets.

Missiles are designed to destroy objects of armored and non-armored equipment, as well as manpower.

Russian rockets have special missile guidance units.

After shelling Ukrainian positions, these blocks are often found relatively undamaged.

One of these blocks was transferred to the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS) for investigation.

The American Center specializes in the analysis of conflicts and security issues.

Imported components were found in the Russian 9М544 missile control unit.

In particular:

• 2 microcircuits in a TSOP66 case (Memory modules are usually assembled on such microcircuits. Russia does not produce microcircuits in such cases);
• Tantalum SMD capacitors (Sold on civilian markets);
• DB15 connector (not produced in Russia);
• SMA type connector (not produced in Russia);
• 3 microcircuits in an LQFP64 package (low-profile microcircuits).

All these items are civilian electronics without a military standard, i.e. for use in household appliances.

It is worth noting that this allows Russia to continue to buy some necessary components for missiles on civilian markets, despite the sanctions.
