An FPV drone operator of the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade hit the Russian Osa air defense system when it tried to shoot down a reconnaissance drone.
The press service of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces reported on this.
It is reported that the Russians have deployed SAMs to intercept a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone.
The Russian Osa air defense system fired an anti-aircraft guided missile, but failed to hit the drone.
Almost immediately after the launch of the missile, the enemy air defense system was targeted by the FPV drone.
It is challenging to assess the extent of the damage to the Russian SAM. Following the impact, there was substantial smoke visible, which could indicate that a combat vehicle caught fire.
The footage shows the Russian Osa air defense system moving out of position, but it is likely that it has lost its combat capability.
Data from the Oryx service shows that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians have lost 15 Osa air defense systems destroyed, 5 damaged, 1 abandoned on the battlefield, and 4 more vehicles captured by Ukrainian troops.
Militarnyi reported on June 12, 2024, that soldiers of the 14th Regiment of Unmanned Aviation Systems destroyed a Russian Buk-M2 air defense system.
The strike was carried out with high accuracy using the HIMARS rocket system.
As previously reported, in the Luhansk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian position where the Pantsir-S1 air defense system was on duty.
It is reported that the strike was carried out using American M142 HIMARS missile systems, which hit the position.
