Serbia and Hungary held joint Komšije 25 military exercises aimed at increasing the level of cooperation between the armies of both countries and exchanging combat experience.

This was reported by the Serbian Ministry of Defense.

The maneuvers were held at the Pasuljanske Livade training ground with the participation of personnel from the First Brigade of the Serbian Army and the 30th Mechanized Brigade of Hungary.

During the multi-day exercise, the servicemen jointly practiced the actions of the units in tactical operations, including the use of modern combat vehicles, communication systems, and intelligence gathering and processing equipment.

This is the tenth joint exercise called Neighbors (Komšije) conducted by the armed forces of Serbia and Hungary.

In addition to strengthening military and political cooperation and developing bilateral relations, the exercises are aimed at increasing the capacity of Serbian units to plan, organize and conduct international operations, as well as participate in peacekeeping missions.

In April, Serbia and Hungary signed an agreement on strategic defense cooperation, which provides for joint exercises and cooperation in arms procurement.

The document details and enacts the framework Strategic Partnership Agreement concluded in 2023.

Its key provisions include deepening cooperation between the military structures of both countries, joint participation in bilateral and multinational exercises, and coordination in the procurement of defense systems and equipment.

Hungarian exercises

On October 2, the Hungarian army crossed the Tisza River between the settlements of Martfü and Vezen as part of the international exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025.

A special role in the maneuvers was played by the Count Ferenc Nadasdy Hussars unit. Using the high cross-country ability of the horses, the hussars took up a hidden observation position near the crossing point, leaving the animals in a shelter under guard.

The unit conducted reconnaissance with the support of drone operators who transmitted data on suspicious enemy activity in real time to the command post.

According to representatives of the Hungarian Army, the exercise demonstrated an effective combination of traditional and modern methods of warfare, including the use of mounted reconnaissance in cooperation with drones.
