On October 2nd, in the area between the settlements of Martfű and Védeny, the Hungarian Army conducted a river crossing over the Tisza River as part of the international exercises Adaptive Hussars 2025.
The 2nd Engineer Regiment named after Ferenc II Rákóczi (MH II. Rákóczi Ferenc 14. Műszaki Ezred) set up a temporary bridge, through which, as part of a simulated combat scenario, Hungarian Lynx combat vehicles and a Turkish maneuver unit on M113 armored personnel carriers crossed.
According to the exercise scenario, the main crossing points had been destroyed by the enemy.
A special role in the exercises was played by the Hussar unit named after Count Ferenc Nádasdy. Using the mobility of horses, they occupied a concealed observation point near the crossing site. The horses were left in a shelter under guard.
The Hussars conducted reconnaissance with the support of drone operators, transmitting real-time data about suspicious enemy activity to the command center.
According to the representatives of the Hungarian Army, the exercises demonstrated effective cooperation between traditional and modern combat capabilities.
Adaptive Hussars 2025 is a series of multinational exercises aimed at enhancing the mobility, interoperability, and combat readiness of NATO forces in Central Europe.
