The Ukrainian servicemen targeted radar and other vehicles from the Russian air defense system.
The video of the successful strike was published by the telegram channel ‘Division – TIVAZ’.
The Russian S-300 or S-400 SAM radar, combat control post, and other vehicles were deployed at the combat position.
Based on the video from the Ukrainian military, it appears that the invaders’ air defense was detected using a reconnaissance drone. The air defense vehicles were positioned in a field near a forest.
Likely, the video captured the radar for illuminating and guiding anti-aircraft missiles, including the mobile control posts mounted on truck chassis.
It’s also likely that the SAM launchers themselves were probably spread out and concealed at a distance from each other.
After the detection of enemy equipment, the Ukrainian command decided to destroy it.
Judging by the video, the fire destruction of elements of the Russian air defense system was carried out by GMLRS rockets from the American M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launcher.
At least four rockets exploded near and above the Russian vehicles and radar and struck them with many metal balls contained in the warheads of each GMLRS.
From such attacks by Ukrainian gunners, enemy equipment at least suffered serious damage, and individual elements, such as radar, could be completely disabled.
With the beginning of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the S-300 and S-400 air defense systems, together with other air defense systems, covered the invaders’ troops and strategic facilities in the temporarily captured territories. The loss of such systems represents a significant setback for the aggressor state.
Recently, the Ukrainian military, with the help of the HIMARS MRL, also destroyed the Russian Buk air defense system in the Donetsk region and the Tor air defense system in the Zaporizhzhia region.
