Ukrainian artillery in cooperation with aerial reconnaissance destroyed a Russian Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system in Donetsk.
The 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade (Black Forest), whose drone was adjusting the strike, published the video.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces used an American M142 HIMARS rocket system to destroy the enemy air defense system.
The destruction of the Russian Pantsir system probably took place in the summer of 2024, but the video was released only recently.
The OSINT researchers of the WarArchive Telegram channel found out that the Russian surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system was detected and destroyed within the temporarily occupied Donetsk.
A video from a Ukrainian Shark drone shows the Pantsir-S1 deployed in a combat position near a forest belt near a highway.
The coordinates of the system’s location were transmitted to the artillerymen, which launched rockets from the HIMARS rocket system.
After being hit by two GMLRS M30A1 precision-guided missiles, which have a warhead with about 180,000 tungsten carbide balls exploding in the air above the target, the missiles of the Russian system detonated.
The detonation and burning of the rocket fuel of the anti-aircraft missile engines likely led to the complete destruction of the invaders’ Pantsir-S1 system.
Militarnyi also reported that in August 2024, the soldiers of the 140th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion had neutralized a Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the Kherson region.
The enemy’s air defense system was discovered during the battalion’s reconnaissance activities, which included searching for enemy objects and equipment.
A Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun system was destroyed near the village of Chaplynka, the Kherson region.
