The “Help Heroes Of Ukraine” Foundation has already handed over 40 American HMMWVs to Ukrainian defenders.

Roman Zabolotovskyi, the Foundation’s Director, told Militarnyi that the vehicles are purchased from private owners and at auctions in the United States.

American vehicles were transferred to units that already have this type of vehicle in their inventory.

In particular, the HMMWVs were handed over to the 3rd separate assault brigade, the Azov National Guard brigade, the 1st Presidential Brigade, the 33rd separate engineering battalion, the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion, etc.

Roman Zabolotovskyi said that the cost of the vehicle ranges from $20,000 to $200,000.

The price of an HMMWV in the United States depends on the vehicle’s configuration and reservation.

The Foundation tries to transfer different types of American vehicles made by AM General.

Once purchased, these vehicles are repaired in the United States, where it is easier to get the necessary spare parts. “Help Heroes Of Ukraine” also sends spare parts for HMMWVs to Ukrainian units.

“The vehicles are designed to transport various materials, ammunition or personnel. The high cross-country ability allows us to do this despite the off-road conditions,” the foundation says.

The units are also receiving a medevac version of the M1152 HMMWV, which is equipped with a medical module for four bedsides.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Ukraine has received more than 3,000 HMMWVs from its American partners.

Recently, AM General provided Ukraine with a test sample of the Hawkeye 105mm mobile howitzer system, which is based on the HMMWV.
