Three stormtroopers of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsiubailo repelled an attack by a Russian GRU special forces unit.
An assault rifleman of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment with the call sign “Jockey” was nominated for the title of Hero of Ukraine after a battle in the Dobropillya sector.
During the clash, three Ukrainian soldiers – Jockey, Trach and Shershen – repelled an attack by a Russian GRU special forces unit that was trying to break through the defense.
According to the regiment’s press service, the enemy used the forces of the 3rd GRU Brigade, counting on surprise and superiority in training.
However, the Ukrainian stormtroopers met the attack with coolness and coordinated actions.
The battle unfolded simultaneously from three directions and quickly turned into close combat. At a critical moment, Jockey engaged in hand-to-hand combat with a Russian special forces soldier.
The warrior used a trophy knife to kill the attacker. The episode was recorded by Ukrainian reconnaissance drones monitoring the sector.
According to official information, it was the decisive actions of the three stormtroopers that allowed them to hold their position and thwart the enemy’s plan to break through.
As a reminder, the President recently awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to three soldiers of the Svoboda battalion who held the line for 67 days surrounded by the invaders.
