Ukrainian Army Air Defense units destroyed more than 330 Russian UAVs and 127 Shahed kamikaze drones in August.

They were shot down both in the rear and along the front line.

This was reported by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk.

He noted that in this way the soldiers had made a significant contribution to the protection of the sky over Ukraine, destroying a significant number of enemy air threats.

In total, in August, Air Defense units of the Ground Forces destroyed 465 enemy air reconnaissance and attack assets, including 1 Su-25 attack aircraft and 6 Kh-59/69 and Kh-101/555 cruise missiles.

In addition, 127 Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones, which the Russians call Geran-1 and Geran-2, were shot down.

Also, the Army’s defenders shot down 42 Orlan-10/30 reconnaissance drones and 140 Zala units.

The air defense of the army also destroyed 149 other types of Russian drones for various purposes, including Supercam, Pryvet-82, Skat, Merlin, etc.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian military is increasingly intercepting enemy drones using FPV drones. Currently, there are several publicly known projects in Ukraine to supply such modified drones to the Defense Forces.

Mostly, we are talking about widespread Russian reconnaissance drones of the fixed-wing type. They are used by the invaders to reconnoiter the frontline and rear areas of Ukraine and to target artillery, loitering munitions and missiles.

Recently, an FPV interceptor operator of the 11th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine managed to shoot down a Russian Lancet loitering munition.

These drones have become one of the biggest threats facing the Ukrainian army. The Russians use them to engage armored vehicles and artillery and other important targets on the battlefield and in the near rear. Therefore, their interception is very important.
