A single crew of the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment shot down three Shahed-type drones at low altitude in one night using GREY WIDOW‑1i interceptor drones, developed on the basis of the GREY WIDOW 1 kamikaze UAV.
The manufacturer company “Nebesna Kara” discussed the engagement with Militarnyi.
According to the company, the GREY WIDOW‑1i fixed-wing interceptor has a wide speed envelope: a minimum speed of 90 km/h, a cruising speed of 120 km/h, and a maximum speed of up to 260 km/h. This allows both extended patrols over a designated area and rapid interception of targets.
Flight endurance depends on the mission profile. In target search mode, the drone can remain airborne for up to 40 minutes. In mixed flight mode, endurance is reduced to 20 minutes, while a full-speed interception limits flight time to about seven minutes. The drone’s tactical range is up to 30 km.
The drone can carry a payload of up to 1.1 kg and is equipped with a high-explosive warhead. Its maximum flight ceiling is up to 6,000 meters, with an operating altitude ranging from 200 to 4,000 meters.
The company noted that the interceptor drones are compatible with all confirmed target guidance systems and are currently undergoing combat testing with optical guidance.
The GREY WIDOW 1 drone has previously been used in a kamikaze configuration by units of the SSU’s Special Operations Center “A” and by line mechanized brigades.
Previously, a serviceman with the call sign “Miguel” from the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment set a record for destroying Shahed-type drones, shooting down 24 UAVs in a single night.
