The training center in northern Germany will train 20,000 Ukrainian servicemen by the end of 2024.
The Bundeswehr reported on this.
Several hundred German soldiers participated in training the Ukrainian military.
The training takes place at Hub North, which is the largest training center for Ukrainian soldiers in Germany.
It operates as part of a European training mission for the Armed Forces of Ukraine called EUMAM Ukraine.
The training content is regularly updated and adapted to the needs of the Ukrainian military.
Ukrainian soldiers are trained in combat operations, as well as in the use and maintenance of military equipment provided to the Ukrainian Defense Forces by Western partners.
In particular, this regards German Marder 1 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and Leonard 1 main battle tanks.
Also, in August, the fourth training mission of the Ukrainian military to work with the Patriot air defense system was launched in Germany.
These air defense systems (SAMs) are being transferred to the Ukrainian Air Force as part of military assistance from Western countries, including Germany.
Upon completion of the training in Germany, the Ukrainian military will be able to operate the Patriot air defense system independently, using it to shoot down Russian planes, cruise missiles, drones, and helicopters.
Germany will also provide Ukraine with 12 additional PzH-2000 self-propelled howitzers in 2024-2025.
