Berlin is ready to change its security philosophy and will be supplying Ukraine with weapons.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated this during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

He noted that there can be no return to normal relations with such a Russia that the world witnessed through its war crimes. The President of Germany stressed that Berlin will be supplying weapons to Ukraine.

“We stand in solidarity with Ukraine,” Steinmeier stressed, Ukrinform reports.

He also noted that Russia’s war crimes must be documented and investigated, and those responsible, as well as political decision-makers, should be brought to justice.

Steinmeier stressed that the Kremlin failed to divide Europe; on the contrary, it had strengthened through its efforts to counter external aggression.

He also added that Putin must end hostilities and allow the evacuation of civilians from Mariupol.

Another topic mentioned was Russian energy. In particular, he brought up that gas imports from Russia to Germany have already been reduced from 60% to 40%.

“It is basically still too much, but based on this data, it is clear that we are serious about reducing the energy dependence on Russia,” said the German President.

Steinmeier added that he was willing to visit Ukraine together with the presidents of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia “to send a strong signal of Europe’s solidarity with Ukraine.”

“I was ready. But we have to admit that they didn’t want that in Kyiv,” said the German president.

It was previously reported that Germany is ready to supply Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
