The Federal Republic of Germany has handed over about 100 vehicles to the National Police and the National Guard of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The cars will be used to protect public order and Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
The event was attended by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, who thanked the German partners for their support of Ukraine.
He emphasized that the aid package will strengthen the units of the National Police and the National Guard and will help protect citizens from crime and protect critical infrastructure.
“The invaluable assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany will allow us to continue to perform our core functions of protecting our citizens from crime at a high level and will enable us to respond quickly to the challenges we face every day. And unfortunately, due to the war, these challenges are increasing, but thanks to you, this response will be faster and more professional,” Klymenko noted.
German Ambassador Martin Jaeger was also present at the ceremony of handing over the vehicles.
He noted that it was an honor for him to be in Ukraine and personally hand over the aid, which will be sent to the Security and Defense Forces of the National Guard and the National Police of Ukraine.
“Ukraine continues its heroic struggle against Russian aggression – and each of you plays an important role in this process. Without the daily work of the National Guard and the National Police, security in Ukraine cannot be guaranteed. For me as Ambassador and for the entire German Government, cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is an important aspect of our partnership, and the vehicles donated are only part of the Ministry’s support. Our fruitful cooperation will continue,” Martin Jaeger emphasized.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs detailed that in 2024, in addition to 100 cars, the public order units of the National Police and the National Guard received computer equipment and protective equipment from the German government.
Recently, on December 21, it was reported that Poland had donated two Mi-8 helicopters and one Bell 412HP helicopter to Ukraine.
They will be used to train pilots and staff at the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
