German defense electronics company Hensoldt has expanded production capacity to increase output of its TRML-4D radar systems.
According to Hartpunkt, the company plans to produce up to 30 radars per year.
Demand for signals intelligence (SIGINT) systems is also rising, and Hensoldt sees significant potential for the TRML-4D, which is designed for wide-area surveillance.
This was confirmed by CEO Oliver Dörre during an hour-long conference call with analysts. He said that fully covering Germany’s territory would require between 40 and 60 such radars.
Dörre added that the company does not plan to start production or development of the TRML-4D outside Germany in the long term.
Hensoldt continues to upgrade the radars to improve their combat performance.
Future TRML-4D variants will be able to detect artillery and mortar rounds in flight.
At the Paris Air Show, the company also announced it is integrating image intelligence technology into the TRML-4D to enhance target recognition.
The TRML-4D is a key component of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system developed by Diehl Defense.
Ukrainian air defense units actively use this radar alongside IRIS-T systems.
The TRML-4D is based on new digital radar technologies and can detect, track and classify various surface targets, operating either as part of a surface-to-air missile system or independently.
