Germany to Buy Thousands of Ukrainian Long-Range Drones for €300 Million

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the launch of a new initiative to purchase long-range drones worth €300 million in cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry.

It is noted that the statement was made during a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein Format) in London.

According to Pistorius, the goal of the initiative is to strengthen Ukraine’s capability to strike deep into enemy territory and to bolster its defense.

“As part of this initiative, we are signing several contracts with Ukrainian companies totaling €300 million. These contracts provide for the delivery of several thousand long-range drones of various types produced in Ukraine,” he said.

According to Pistorius, the contracts are flexible, allowing for an increase in the number of drones purchased and the involvement of other countries.

The Minister emphasized that Germany supports Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and helps it achieve an advantage on the battlefield.

He also confirmed that Berlin is in the process of delivering two complete Patriot systems to Ukraine.

The first launchers of these systems have already been delivered. Norway covered half of the cost of the systems.

Meanwhile, British Secretary of State for Defence John Healey announced London’s intention to finance the production of long-range drones for Ukraine on the territory of the United Kingdom.

The Estonian company Milrem Robotics is preparing a record batch of multi-purpose ground drones THeMIS for Ukraine.

The delivery will take place within the framework of aid provided by the European Union.
