The German government has simplified the export of air and maritime defense equipment to Ukraine and the Gulf states.

This is stated in a press release from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

Germany is adapting its arms export control procedures to ensure the delivery of urgently needed equipment to these countries.

“Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on Gulf countries have created an urgent need for weapons, primarily for air defense. At the same time, Ukraine’s need for military support, particularly in the area of air defense, remains unchanged,” said the Federal minister Katherina Reiche.

The document provides for a simplified procedure for the supply of military products without the need for prior approval of each individual application by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control. The authorization covers the supply of weapons for air and maritime defense, including anti-mine equipment.

The list of countries covered by the new mechanism includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Ukraine.

According to the document, exporting companies must register, which can be done within 30 days of the first shipment. At the same time, monthly reporting on exports is required. The new authorization will remain in effect until September 15, 2026.
