Germany handed over another batch of assistance to Ukraine. This is announced on the official website of the country’s government.
The transferred equipment includes repair and evacuation vehicles, bridge systems, tents, generators, and winter uniforms.
In particular, Germany transferred:
The assistance in preparation to be shipped also includes 5 ARVs, 35 8×8 trucks, and 4000 sleeping bags.
It is emphasized that for security reasons, the timing and methods of equipment shipment are not indicated.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have already received the first Bergepanzer 2 ARV. Now, the Ukrainian military will have 10 units of this equipment in its service.
The German Bergepanzer 2 belongs to the group of armored recovery vehicles.
The vehicle is based on the Leopard 1 tank chassis. Its main purpose is to ensure the mobility of mechanized units, the evacuation of damaged equipment, and provide assistance in replacing or repairing the engine-transmission compartment and/or turret of combat vehicles.
The crew consists of four members: driver, commander, machine gunner, and radio operator.
The BPz-2 has a machine gun designed for the self-defense of the vehicle.
In addition, mortars for smoke or aerosol grenades, which could be used for masking, are mounted on the hull.
Prior to this announcement, Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General, mentioned that “in the coming days,” Ukraine will receive systems to countermeasure Iranian drones.
