Polish President Duda accused the German government of violating the promise to supply weapons.
This was reported by Andrzej Duda in an interview with the German edition Welt.
Polish President Andrzej Duda accused the federal government of violating its promise regarding concerted exchange of tanks.
“Germany promised to supply Poland with tanks. They did not keep this promise, “Andrzej Duda said.
The government in Berlin has promised Poland Leopard tanks instead of Polish T-72 tanks that are now being supplied to Ukraine.
“We have provided Ukraine with a large number of tanks because we believe that this is our responsibility as a neighbor. This has weakened Poland’s own military potential,” Duda told WELT on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
That is why Poland was hoping for the support of NATO, as well as the United States and Germany.
In general, the federal government of Germany is not doing too much to help Ukraine, Duda said.
“First of all, Germany should help Ukraine. Ukraine really needs this help very urgently.”
The President of Poland visited Ukraine last weekend for the second time since the beginning of the war.
At a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Duda assured him of his full support for EU membership. He said those who “shed their blood” for independence should be respected, “even when the situation is difficult, even when doubts exist.”
We would like to remind you that in May it was reported that Germany had also promised to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to the Czech Republic instead of the T-72s handed over to Kyiv.
