Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov the Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces headed the forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Kazakhstan.
In 2015, the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine announced the name of the commander at that time of the group of Russian occupation forces in the Donbas.
“The commander of the group of Russian-occupation forces in the Donbas is Colonel General Andriy Serdyukov, the Chief of Staff of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, which serving under the alias “Sedov”, – said the Head of the SSU Vasyl Hrytsak in 2015.
According to Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence information, Andrey Serdyukov was headed the operation of annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014.
On 4 October 2016, he commissioned Commander of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Armed Forces.
The then Head of the SSU noted, that Lieutenant General Andriy Gurulyov (commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District) was headed the Russian forces before Serdyukov.
Hrytsak also added that Lieutenant General Sergei Solomatin (commander of the 35th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces) is the Head of Staff of the group of Russian troops.
Recall that on January 6, the Russian forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) arrived in Kazakhstan. The CSTO forces in Kazakhstan will include troops of the armed forces of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Russian forces in Kazakhstan, which will be under command by the general, include units of the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade, the 98th Airborne Division and the 31st Guards Air Assault Brigade.
