On August 14, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces struck the Russian seaport of Olya in the Astrakhan region.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on this.
According to preliminary information, the airstrike hit the vessel Port Olya-4, which was carrying components for Shahed-type attack drones and ammunition from Iran.
The results of the strike are currently being confirmed.
The operation by the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, carried out in coordination with other branches of the Defense Forces, was aimed at reducing the enemy’s ability to carry out airstrikes against Ukraine.
The General Staff noted that the port of Olya was used by the Russians as a key logistical hub for the supply of military goods from Iran.
The Russian seaport of Olya is located in the village of Olya, the Limansky District of the Astrakhan region. The facility is situated in the delta of the Volga River, which flows into the Caspian Sea.
The Ukrainian military has not specified the exact means used to strike the vessel carrying components.
On November 6 last year, a Ukrainian strike drone hit a missile boat of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy at the naval base in Kaspiysk.
The strike took place at 7 a.m. The drone traveled approximately 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border to reach its target.
A video recording of the strike, captured by local residents, showed that the missile boat of project 12411.1 had been damaged as a result of the attack. The vessel was armed with four Termit anti-ship missiles.
This ship was designed to engage surface targets and was equipped with air defense systems.
