The American concern General Motors handed over 50 SUVs to Ukraine.
George Svigos, Executive Director for Communications of GM International at General Motors, made this announcement.
Ukraine received Chevrolet Tahoe models that would be helping with the humanitarian missions.
In particular, large SUVs will assist in delivering humanitarian aid across Ukraine.
Approximately four weeks ago, Ukrainian government leaders made an address to General Motors with a special request: the country is in need of large vehicles to transport people from the combat zones.
General Motors did not hesitate to say yes.
“It has been a hugely rewarding experience to be part of a General Motors team that swung into action, overcame obstacles, and moved at speed to get these much-needed vehicles to the Ukraine Government for humanitarian work,” said George Svigos.
According to Svigos, the cars were handed over to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.
In addition, General Motors made a donation of $250,000 to support humanitarian aid in the region, and the company’s employees raised another $50,000.
GM Canada has also donated $20,000 to a number of nonprofits for humanitarian purposes.
GM is also supporting the Welcome.US movement, which assists in mobilizing and empowering Americans to support asylum seekers.
Previously, GM stated that it was closing its commercial office in Russia and dismissing most of the 66 employees who were working there.
