The Russian authorities and Kremlin-controlled media are trying to link the assassination attempt on a high-ranking officer of the GRU with Poland by launching a coordinated information campaign.

The “Polish trace” in the case of the assassination attempt on Russian General Alekseyev was highlighted in the publication Defence24.

According to the Kremlin, one of the alleged perpetrators of the attack, Lubomir Korba, was allegedly recruited by the Polish special services through his son, Lubos Korba, a Polish citizen.

The second person involved in the case, Viktor Vasin, is not related to Korba, according to the investigation.

Instead, he had previously participated in opposition protests in Moscow and was associated with Alexei Navalny’s organizations.

The FSB also claims that both suspects were allegedly recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine, which promised them $30,000 for attacking an officer of the GRU.

On the morning of February 6, an assassination attempt was made in Moscow on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, deputy chief of the GRU, who was wounded in the entrance of a residential building.

On February 7, Russian media reported that he was in serious condition, while Kyiv officially denied any involvement in the attack.

The detained Lyubomir Korba was quickly filmed for the state agency TASS — without any visible signs of violence, reading a statement that raises doubts about the credibility of the official version.

Previously, Militarnyi reported that on the morning of February 6, an attack was carried out on the first deputy chief of the GRU, which is responsible for military intelligence.

The attack on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev took place on the 24th floor of a building on Volokolamskoye Shosse.

Later, new details emerged about the assassination attempt on the general of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces: the attack took place at his mistress’s home, and the killer was detained in Dubai.
