Vitaly Moskalenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria, revealed what weapons Ukraine wants to receive from Bulgaria.

He stated about the weapons list in his interview with Bulgarian National TV’s program “Speak Now.”

Moskalenko noted that Kyiv had handed Sofia a list of more than 30 weapons items that Ukraine would like to receive, including air defense weapons, artillery and ammunition.

“From the very beginning, we have asked Bulgaria for various types of armaments. In a list submitted to the Ministry of Defense, we have indicated more than 30 items, including means for air defense, which are most necessary now. As you know, because of the bombings and rocket attacks and drones, such a weapon is extremely necessary. S-300, as well as anti-aircraft missile complexes, installations. The issue of the supply of 152 mm howitzers, self-propelled artillery installations, shells, mortars, etc., remains relevant,” explained the Ambassador of Ukraine.

He emphasized that Bulgaria possesses every item indicated in Ukraine’s list, so the request can be fulfilled on many points.

“Previously, we requested helicopters and Su-25 and MiG-29 aircraft. All the weapons that Bulgaria has had since the time of the USSR are absolutely necessary for us as well,” Ambassador Moskalenko added.

As previously reported, the Parliament of Bulgaria approved the decision to start providing military and technical assistance to Ukraine. Now, within a month, the country’s government has to specify what military aid Bulgaria may provide to Ukraine.

Previously, Dimitar Stoyanov, the Acting Minister of Defense, noted that as a result of the adoption of the draft law, Bulgaria may lose the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, which are the basis of the country’s air defense system.

Before that, Bulgaria did not provide military aid to Ukraine, although Bulgarian-made weapons were used by Ukrainian servicemen.

Prior to this, the Bulgarian authorities agreed to provide Ukraine with support for the repair of equipment.
