French media reported that Ukraine would receive 155mm TRF1 towed howitzers.
According to sources of the French newspaper L’Opinion, the Ukrainian military will receive TRF1 howitzers, which were removed from service by the French army.
The French 155mm TRF1 howitzer was manufactured by GIAT from 1984 to 1993.
It is able to move independently at a speed of 8 km/h and has an autoloader.
For the first time, this French artillery weapon was presented at the Satory arms exhibition in 1979.
In the French Army, it replaced the 155mm Modele 50 howitzers.
The transportation and supply of ammunition was carried out by the Renault TRM 10000 truck, where, in addition to the artillery crew of 7 people, 48 shells were located.
The TRF1 howitzer has a firing range of 24 kilometers with conventional shells and 30 kilometers with rocket-assisted rounds.
It is stated that the howitzer has a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute.
To replace the TRF1, France chose the CAESAR self-propelled artillery system.
According to open sources, 105 TRF1 howitzers were delivered to the French army.
As of 2016, 12 TRF1 howitzers were still in service, the rest were decommissioned.
