The French company ELWAVE will provide Ukraine with its Tetrapulse electromagnetic sensors to detect and identify unexploded ammunition and mines.
According to Naval News, the project is being carried out in partnership with the French companies Exail and Geomines as part of the Ukraine support initiative.
CEDAR enables accurate detection of both metallic and non-metallic mines and ammunitions in low visibility or buried in the seabed.
This is particularly important in low visibility conditions, where traditional acoustic, magnetometer and video-based methods fall short.
It is noted that the technology provided a fully comprehensive solution. The use of the sensors will help ensure the safety of waterways and ports.
Furthermore, Tetrapulse has already demonstrated its effectiveness during trials with the navies of NATO countries and will now be used to clear ports and sea routes, which are critically important for Ukraine’s economic activity.
ELWAVE is a French deeptech company specialized in electromagnetics bionics sensors.
Its solutions enable accurate detection and characterization of underwater objects and threats, ranging from mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) to debris.
The sensors also provide electromagnetic field monitoring for infrastructure, such as cables in wind farms.
Militarnyi previously reported that Germany, within the framework of support, had transferred Sonobot 5 unmanned surface vehicles to Ukraine.
The USVs are used to survey water bodies and detect ammunition and other dangerous objects at the bottom.
