Ukraine will be receiving additional artillery from France.
The French President shared this on his Twitter account on Thursday, June 30.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of 6 more wheeled 155-mm Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Self-propelled artillery howitzers are not the only arms that would arrive for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from France. According to Macron, Ukraine will also receive a “significant number” of armored vehicles.
At NATO, we unanimously decided, as we did a few days ago at the European Council and G7, to step up our economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine. The allies are shouldering their responsibilities.

“France will deliver swiftly equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself, including 6 more Caesar howitzers and a significant number of armored vehicles,” the French leader wrote, adding that France and allies “are and will be there” to Ukraine.
It is worth noting that from this message, it is not entirely clear whether this regards the supply of a new batch of Caesar self-propelled howitzers, or the previously announced transfer of self-propelled howitzers that was presented by Emmanuel Macron during the briefing after the meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on June 18.
In another tweet, the French president mentioned that the NATO leaders had “unanimously decided, as we did a few days ago at the European Council and the G7, to step up our economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine.”
As previously reported, according to Sébastien Lecornu, French Defense Minister, France will be transferring “significant quantities” of French-made armored personnel carriers and support vehicles to Ukraine. This would cover the VAB-type transport vehicles.
Sébastien Lecornu stated that to move quickly, the Ukrainian troops need armored vehicles.
Lecornu added that France was also examining the possibility of delivering the French-built anti-ship Exocet missiles to Ukraine.
The VAB (Véhicule de l’Avant Blindé – “Armoured Vanguard Vehicle”) is a French armoured personnel carrier and support vehicle developed by French manufacturers Renault and Saviem. Serial production has been going on since the mid-70s.
CAESAR is a French 155-mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer developed by the GIAT Industries. The barrel length is 52 calibers. It carries 18 rounds of ammunition and fires 6 shots per minute. Caesar has the capacity to use the full range of NATO 155-mm artillery shells.
