As part of its defense support, France is prepared to train additional Ukrainian military pilots using extra aircraft.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this following his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The leaders also discussed the frontline situation and Ukraine’s most urgent defense requirements.

“I want to specially highlight our agreement on pilot training for the Mirage jets: France is ready to train additional pilots using additional aircraft,” Zelenskyy said.

The presidents also discussed in detail strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including the delivery of missiles for the SAMP/T systems and funding for interceptor drones.

“We will work on joint solutions with France and partners at the level of defense and foreign ministers regarding new steps to protect the lives of our people from Russian strikes,” the President said.

Last month, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Ukraine’s intention to expand the Air Force fleet by acquiring additional French Mirage 2000 fighter jets.
