The French company Eurenco, one of the key European producers of energy materials for the defense industry, is investing about €250 million in a new gunpowder plant in Poland.

This was reported by Defence24.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Polish company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and involves the construction of a modern plant for the production of gunpowder and modular metal charges for 155 mm artillery ammunition in Pińki.

The French company brings advanced technologies, investments, and years of experience to the project. The Polish side provides the production facilities, infrastructure, and technical staff.

The cooperation is long-term and covers not only the production itself, but also the transfer of know-how and the development of industrial competencies in Poland.

The plant should reach a capacity of 1,200 tons of artillery powder per year. This should allow for the production of 600,000 modular metal charges. Given that 4 to 7 charges are usually used during a shot, this will be enough for 85-150 thousand shots.

According to the publication, the products will be intended both for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces and for other European countries and allies. Production is scheduled to start in 2028.

In August 2025, Mesko, a PGZ company, and French Eurenco announced the start of production in Poland of modular metal charges for 155 mm artillery.

The French company provided technologies and components for the production of modular charges. At the same time, Mesko produces finished modules using its own powders.

The assembly line was launched on July 25, 2025, and the manufactured products have successfully passed certification, confirming the required quality indicators. The expected capacity of the line is 100,000 charges per year.

Mesko has signed an agreement with France’s Eurenco to build and launch a modular metal charge assembly line at its Polish plant in Piąkki in 2024.

Thus, Mesko is putting into practice its strategy of creating a full production cycle for 155 mm rounds. The company has already begun to increase its production capacity at the Krasnik plant with the ultimate goal of producing 150,000 155 mm rounds per year.
