Ukraine has received six TRF1 155mm towed howitzers from France.
It is reported by Ouest-France with reference to French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
It is noted that overall France has handed over a large number of materials and equipment to Ukraine during the Russian full-scale invasion, covering the entire range of needs expressed by the Ukrainian side.
In particular, Ukraine received the following weapons systems for various purposes: six TRF1 155mm howitzers, 18 Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, two LRU MLRS and two Crotale anti-aircraft systems.
It is also noted that France has transferred to Ukraine fuel, anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, equipment (helmets, body armor, soldering, night vision devices and medical equipment), as well as ammunition of various calibers.
In early September, French media, citing their own sources, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive TRF1 howitzers, which were removed from service by the French army.
The French TRF1 155mm towed howitzer was produced by GIAT from 1984 to 1993.
It is able to move independently at a speed of 8 km/h and has a semi-autoloader system.
The howitzer and the supplied ammunition was transported by a Renault TRM 10000 truck. In addition to an artillery crew of 7 people, this truck can carry 48 artillery rounds.
The TRF1 howitzer has a firing range of 24 kilometers with conventional projectiles and 30 kilometers of rocket-assisted projectiles. It is stated that the howitzer has a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute.
It is known from open sources that a total of 105 TRF1 howitzers were delivered to the French army.
France is actively involved in the training of the Ukrainian military. As of November, 400 Ukrainian troops have already been trained on equipment that was transferred to Ukraine. Paris also plans to train 2,000 soldiers as part of the European training mission EUMAM Ukraine.
