Yesterday, a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter was damaged by a kamikaze FPV drone in the Kursk region.
The damage was reported by the Russian military, including Alexei Zemtsov, who runs the Voevoda Vesti telegram channel.
He did not specify the exact model, only noted that after the attack, the crew managed to divert and land the aircraft.
According to him, the crew is alive, and the helicopter was sent for repair:
Zemtsov also did not provide any other details of the incident.
However, one of the unknown private channels has already published a still image of the FPV drone hitting the helicopter’s tail section, a screenshot of which is published with the original caption “Buzz?”:
The Belgorodskaya Narodnaya Respublika Telegram channel compared it to the tail section of a Mi-28:
The Russian military repeatedly loses such helicopters under various circumstances. For example, at the end of July, one of them burned down during a sabotage, and another fell and crashed while hunting for a drone.
A Ka-52 helicopter of the Russian army was also destroyed yesterday. As a result of a hard landing, it started to burn, making it impossible to repair and return to service.
Due to the deterioration of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Sumy region, the enemy started using combat helicopters to patrol and fire at the positions of Ukrainian defenders. As we can see, losses in this type of equipment have also increased.
The KARYMAT Telegram channel published a video of an FPV drone hit a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter:
