A Ukrainian FPV drone destroyed a Russian VPK-Ural armored vehicle 13 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The military columnist Tender published the video of the incident on his X (ex-Twitter).

The armored vehicle was attacked at a checkpoint near the Lukoil gas station near the village of Oktyabrsky, Belgorod region.

According to the video and photos, the armored vehicle was equipped with an anti-drone “grill” that covered the armored vehicle’s machine gun slot.

In addition, the video’s author stated that there was ammunition in the armored vehicle.

VPK-Ural

The VPK-Ural is a Russian mine-protected armored vehicle based on the Ural-53099 truck, which was introduced to the public in 2019.

The armored vehicle has a more widespread modernized version, AMN-590951, which has additional engine protection and its hull has improved anti-bullet and anti-shrapnel protection. The improved version can accommodate up to 9 people in the airborne compartment.

A machine gun slot with a large-caliber 12.7 mm Cord machine gun was placed on the roof of AMN-590951.

The total weight of the AMN-590951 is 14.5 tons. The declared maximum speed on the highway is at least 100 km/h, and the maximum driving range is 1000 km.

FPV drone strikes in Russia

On April 7, Militarnyi reported that for the first time in history, the Ukrainian military hit a BM-27 Uragan multiple-launch rocket system with an FPV drone.

The rocket launcher was hit during its transportation in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

Several MRLs were placed by Russians on semi-trailers and transported to an unknown location through the village of Voznesenovka.

The attack took place on Pobedy Street in Voznesenivka, Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, 7.5 km from the border with Ukraine.
