Paratroopers have shot down Russian Horizon Air S-100 and Orlan-10 UAVs during combat missions.

On April 19, two Russian unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were shot down by air defense units of the Airborne Assault Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces Command.

The Horizon Air S-100 multi-purpose drone and the Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone were shot down.

Worth noting is that this is the first official message from the Ukrainian servicemen about them shooting down the Russian “Horizon Air S-100” drone.

It has been reported that Russian unmanned reconnaissance vehicles were neutralized by the American and British-made Stinger and Starstreak portable anti-aircraft missile systems, respectively.

Camcopter S-100 is a multi-purpose unmanned helicopter. It was developed and created by the Austrian company Schiebel. The development was ongoing between 2003 and 2005. Russia together with Schiebel had established production of these unmanned helicopters, and the aircraft system was called Horizon Air S-100.

The device can be used by ground and marine forces.

The range of the flight is up to 180 km, and the duration of the mission is 6 hours with a payload of 25 kg. The data is transmitted through four video channels. Take-off and landing of the S-100 on the unprepared platform are possible in automatic, semi-automatic, and manual modes.

Russia uses the Horizon Air S-100 in the frontier service.

The Air Assault Forces noted that the anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue shooting down the rather expensive Russian air reconnaissance equipment.

Orlan-10 is a medium-range, multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle, it is used at distances of up to 120 km from the control point. In autonomous mode, it can fly a distance of 600 km. Time in the air – up to 18 hours, flight speed – 90-150 km per hour. It weighs 14 kg and is launched from a special catapult.
