Firehawk Aerospace has successfully conducted the first flight test of the 3D-printed Firehawk Analog (GFA) hybrid missile.

The test took place under a contract with the U.S. Army Applications Laboratory.

The missile reached an altitude of over 18,000 feet (≈5,486 meters) and exceeded the speed of sound, launching from a mobile platform.

This test confirmed the effectiveness of the hybrid engine – in particular, its directional stability and thrust characteristics.

“Designing, developing, and launching the first-ever GMLRS hybrid propulsion system in the GMLRS form factor underscores the strength and innovation of our engineering team, as well as the scalability of the technology,” Will Edwards, CEO of Firehawk Aerospace, reported.

The GFA test was the first in a series of demonstrations planned under a contract with the US Army.

In the future, Firehawk will test analogs of the Javelin and Stinger class missiles, designed to replace solid fuel engines in existing weapons systems.
