The Ukrainian company Fire Point plans to complete the process of codification of the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine by the end of 2025.
Fire Point co-owner and chief designer Denys Stilerman told about this in an interview with 1+1 TV channel journalist Natalia Moseychuk.
“By the end of this year, we hope to be in service,” he said in response to the journalist’s question about when Ukrainian “ballistics” would be available.
He noted that the missile will have a relatively simple design, and thanks to the preliminary production setup and the availability of a funded order, the missiles will be “rolling out like hot cakes.”
Codification of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is the process of assigning a unique NATO nomenclature code (NSN) to items of weapons and military equipment (WME), which makes them “supply items” for the Armed Forces and the entire Alliance.
According to the developer, the issue of an accurate inertial navigation system remains critical, for which the company is currently forced to purchase laser gyroscopes. Therefore, the company is currently building its own gyroscope production facility.
Given the security threat and sensitivity of such production, the new plant is being built abroad, in an unnamed partner country.
“Unfortunately, this enterprise, like the filling of solid fuel engines, cannot be located in Ukraine. Because once you arrive, all the stands need to be recalibrated. It will take time, and there will be no production,” the designer explained.
In an interview with NV magazine, Denys Stilerman clarified that this year they plan to codify the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile, while in 2026 they plan to codify the FP-9 short-range ballistic missile.
For the first time, Fire Point announced the development of its own FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles at a press conference during the MSPO international exhibition in September 2025 in Poland.
It is stated that the FP-7 ballistic missile will have a range of up to 200 km, a maximum speed of 1500 m/s and a circular deviation of 14 meters. Its payload will be 150 kg and the maximum flight duration will be 250 seconds. Thus, the FP-7 tactical ballistic missile will resemble the characteristics of the Chinese-Belarusian Polonez missile system.
The FP-9 ballistic missile will have a range of up to 855 km, a speed of 2200 m/s, a payload of 800 kg and a flight altitude of up to 70 km. With an accuracy of 20 meters, it will be able to hit targets in the deep rear.
