Finland will be providing 70 million euros in aid to Ukraine and additional military equipment.
This was stated by Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland.
Prime Minister Sanna Marin participated in the international conference on assistance to Ukraine in Warsaw as the representative of Finland.
During this meeting, Prime Minister Marin also conducted a bilateral meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The high-level international conference was convened by Poland and Sweden in cooperation with the EU and the UN.
The purpose of the event was to collect the financial assistance for the urgent needs of Ukraine, discuss the country’s long-term assistance, and strengthen confidence in what is to come.
In her speech, Prime Minister Marin condemned Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine and stated that Finland is ready to strengthen its sanctions against Russia.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need for a long ceasefire so that people could be evacuated.
Finland has provided financial and military assistance to Ukraine. In addition, 700 million EUR was allocated to help those fleeing from Ukraine to Finland.
“In addition, we are preparing a new decision on humanitarian aid and support for reconstruction. This amount will reach approximately 70 million euros. Today, Finland also decided to help Ukraine with the new defense equipment,” said Prime Minister Marin.
The Finnish Prime Minister believes in the victory of Ukraine.
“Ukraine is fighting for Europe and Ukrainians are winners in this war. Our thoughts are with you. We support the future of Ukraine and its courageous people. Finland is ready to play its part,” she said.
