Finland will supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine using funds from frozen Russian assets, according to a statement from the Finland’s Ministry of Defence.

The deliveries will take place under a European Union initiative, with a total value of €90 million.

The ammunition will be procured from Finnish manufacturers, strengthening the country’s domestic defense industry.

“We were able to negotiate additional funding for Finland’s support for Ukraine. The funds come from frozen Russian assets. The products are purchased from Finnish industry to boost employment at home and sent to Ukraine to help its defence. I am very pleased with the outcome,” said Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen.

The minister emphasized that the agreement was important both for supporting Ukraine and for job creation in Finland.

The new package brings Finland’s total military assistance to Ukraine to €660 million. Further details about the content, method, and timing of the deliveries have not been disclosed.

In addition, Finland has begun concealing the details of its arms exports. According to the Ministry of Defence, the move is partly due to changes in the security environment, as well as requests from exporters and end users.

Previously, Militarnyi reported that Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark had agreed to standardize their artillery ammunition to increase production capacity and improve interoperability among their armed forces.

The agreement primarily covers 155 mm ammunition, intended for both self-propelled and towed artillery systems, as well as 81 mm and 120 mm mortar rounds.

The countries use a range of artillery platforms: Norway and Finland operate South Korean K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers, Sweden fields the domestically produced Archer system, and Denmark uses the Israeli ATMOS 2000.
