Finland is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine following a meeting between the leaders of the two countries on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
This was reported by the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
During the meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the preparation of the 27th military aid package for Ukraine with President of Finland Alexander Stubb.
The discussion identified Ukraine’s current military needs to strengthen its defense capabilities and counter Russian missile attacks on cities and critical infrastructure.
The leaders also discussed investments in the production of drones in Ukraine following the example of the Danish model, the development of defense industry cooperation, and the development of new weapons.
“We will continue to support Ukraine. There is no question about it. This is all about your independence, your sovereignty, and your territorial integrity. We admire what you are doing,” Stubb stated.
The key topics of the meeting were Ukraine’s defense capability, support for it, and increasing pressure on Russia, including through expanded sanctions. The leaders emphasized that these steps are aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, a common goal of Ukraine and Finland.
In early December 2024, President Stubb approved the 26th military aid package worth €25 million.
Although the details of the military aid package remain classified, it is reported to include winter gear for the Ukrainian military. The package is expected to be delivered to Ukraine in early 2025.
Militarnyi previously reported that Germany will provide nine Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles as part of a new military aid package for Ukraine.
The military aid package included 600 HF-1 loitering munitions, 46 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, 43 Songbird drones, and 50 Vector drones.
In addition, about 11,000 120-mm mortar shells and 33,000 artillery rounds were delivered, including 19,000 122-mm and 14,000 155mm rounds.
In addition to the Boxer RCT30, five additional Marder 1A3 IFVs will be delivered, 20 FFG mine-clearing vehicles have already been delivered, and spare parts for the Leopard 1A5 tanks will be available to the defense forces.
