The Finnish government has prepared the 24th military aid package for Ukraine.
The Finnish Ministry of Defense announced this.
The decision to transfer weapons and equipment to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package was made by the country’s president on June 28.
Its cost will be about €159 million.
“Finland is committed to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s unjustified attack. This is not only about Ukraine, but ultimately about the right of all free peoples to exist. We, the Finns, have learned from our own history how important this issue is,” said Antti Häkkänen, Minister of Defense of Finland.
The new military aid package will also include military equipment.
The official announcement does not specify what kind of equipment will be transferred, but Finland has already transferred the latest classified weapons to Ukraine.
Previously, the transfer of these weapons became known from Lieutenant General Mikko Heiskanen, Chief of Arms of the Finnish Defense Forces, who gave an interview to STT and said that some of them were under development.
It should be noted that in addition to military assistance from the Finnish government, the country also supports most European initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Thus, the country provides financial support for the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine.
It also finances the Polish initiative to search for armored vehicles for Ukraine, led by Poland, Germany, and Italy.
In April 2024, Ukraine and Finland signed an agreement on security cooperation.
