The Government of Finland has started preparing the fourteenth military aid package to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, stated this during a briefing in Kyiv.
Finland has recently made a decision on a thirteenth aid package with defense equipment, including heavy weapons.
Finland has already provided €750 million military aid to Ukraine and is preparing the fourteenth package.
“Today, our military support reaches €750 million and makes Finland one of the largest suppliers of weapons to Ukraine,” said Sanna Marin.
The military of Finland also trains soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as members of the European coalition and will soon continue to do so under the EU training mission.
“We are already preparing our fourteenth military aid package,” the Prime Minister said.
Marin noted that she carefully listened to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who informed her about the needs of the army and the long-term needs of Ukraine.
She also emphasized that Europe had to develop a strong and efficient defense industry that would be able to supply Ukraine with defense equipment in the future, primarily shells.
According to her, this will be discussed at the next meeting of the European Council.
In February it became known that as part of international cooperation on Leopard armored vehicles, Finland would hand over three Leopard 2R heavy mine breaching vehicles to Ukraine, as well as provide training related to their use and maintenance.
Also in March, the Government of Finland granted Estonia permission to re-export D-30 towed howitzers to Ukraine. Estonia needed Finland’s permission as the matter related to the weapons purchased from Finland. The permission of Germany, from which Finland received the weapons at one time, was also required.
