The President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, has approved the sending of the ninth package of military aid to Ukraine.
The aid is based on the government’s earlier proposal, according to Antti Kaikkonen, the Minister of Defense of Finland.
In order to ensure the safe delivery of aid, Finland will not disclose its contents, delivery method or schedule.
It is emphasized that it “takes into account the needs of Ukraine and the available resources of the Defense Forces.”
“The defense battle of Ukraine continues. Unfortunately, it seems that the war may continue for a long time. Finland continues to support Ukraine,” Antti Kaikkonen, Finnish Defense Minister, commented.
As reported, the total cost of previous Finnish aid packages is estimated at almost €93 million.
On October 4, Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen, speaking before the parliament, said that Finland is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian military already uses Finnish Sisu XA-180/185 armored personnel carriers.
Presumably, the Ukrainian military received this vehicles from the reserves of the Finnish army as part of one of the aid packages to support Ukraine’s defense capability.
Also, the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine received 23 ItK 61 anti-aircraft guns from Finland.
As of 2018, Finland had 45 units of 23 ItK 95 and about four hundred 23 ItK 61 guns in storage.
In August 2022, Finland sent instructors to Britain to train the Ukrainian troops.
