A fifth of the Russian strike drones and decoy drones shot down today were intercepted by interceptor drones.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his evening address.

According to the President, over 150 enemy drones have been shot down today alone.

During the night of September 6th to 7th, Russia attacked Ukraine with over 800 units, including more than 400 Shahed drones.

This marked a record number of attacks the occupiers have launched against Ukraine.

“There were significant results from the interceptor drones: more than 150 interceptions throughout the night,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address.

In total, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully downed 747 enemy Shahed-type drones and various decoy drones. The operation also involved electronic warfare, army aviation, mobile fire groups, and fighter jets.

On September 7th, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military-Civil Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, reported that 80 enemy drones had been destroyed in the region.

“This is a new record for the number of interceptions in a night,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The creation of units armed with interceptor drones was first announced last year, with plans for them to begin intercepting Russian drones in 2025.

The formation of the first such unit within the Unmanned Systems Forces was announced in April, and at that time, one of the first interceptor drones was showcased to the public.
