An Iranian-backed group carried out a strike with a fiber-optic FPV drone on the U.S. Victory base in Iraq.

The corresponding video was published by Serhiy Sternenko.

The drone was reportedly supplied by the Islamic Resistance of Iraq group. Although it did not cause significant damage, only hitting a hangar, the attack itself represents a new precedent.

The FPV drone flew over the base in the Baghdad area without opposition and maneuvered while searching for a target.

Failing to find a suitable target, the drone, either accidentally or intentionally, struck the door of a concrete hangar, causing no significant damage.

This attack is the first known use of such weapons by pro-Iranian groups against American troops in the region.

As hostilities involving Iran continue and tensions rise, similar attacks could be repeated. At the same time, U.S. forces are not yet fully prepared to counter this type of threat.

U.S. forces have previously lost expensive equipment in Iranian drone and missile attacks.

It was recently reported that an Iranian missile strike on an air base in Saudi Arabia damaged five U.S. Air Force tanker aircraft.

According to media reports, the aircraft were damaged but not destroyed and are currently undergoing repairs. No personnel were injured.
At the time of the attack, the aircraft were at Prince Sultan Air Base. In addition to U.S. expeditionary forces, units of the Royal Saudi Air Force, the 4th, 6th and 14th Air Wings, are stationed there.

Tankers play a key role in U.S.-Israeli air operations.
