In Turkey, an explosion was recorded at an explosives factory in the morning.
It happened at about 08:30 a.m. local time at the ZSR Explosives plant, located near the village of Karesi in Balıkesir province in the western part of the country, CNN Turk reports.
The plant produces explosives for military and civilian use.
Ismail Ustaoglu, the governor of the province, said that, according to preliminary data, 12 people were killed in the explosion, and three others were injured.
A rescue operation is currently underway to find people who may be trapped under the rubble.
The prosecutor’s office reported that the explosion occurred at the capsule production site.
A large number of emergency medical and fire brigades are working at the scene.
The governor ruled out the possibility of sabotage and said there was no risk of another explosion.
In October, the attackers carried out a terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), a Turkish company that produces UAVs, among other things.
The company is located on the outskirts of Ankara.
The unidentified men drove up to the entrance in a car and started shooting. They were armed with Kalashnikov rifles. Then, an explosion occurred near the checkpoint leading to the territory of the enterprise.
Security forces and medical and fire brigades were immediately dispatched to the scene. After the attackers were neutralized, it was reported that three people were killed and 14 wounded as a result of the explosion and shooting.
