An explosion occurred in the city of Taganrog, leaving most districts without power and water.
According to Astra, preliminary reports indicate that two explosions took place at the “110/35/6 kV T-25” substation. At the time of the incident, no air raid alert had been declared in the city.
According to PJSC Rosseti, a high-voltage line was shut down due to an emergency. The company reported that repair crews are working to restore the power supply.
Taganrog has repeatedly come under attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces – primarily targeting the city’s military facilities and factories. For instance, on July 11, 2025, Militarnyi reported that a drone had crashed on the grounds of an aircraft factory in Taganrog, Rostov region.
That same plant was also attacked in March 2024, when dozens of drones struck the Beriev Aircraft Plant, which is involved in repairing and modernizing A-50 aircraft. At the time, it was reported that a large number of unmanned aerial systems carrying loitering munitions hit the plant’s workshops, causing a fire.
These attacks were likely linked to a statement by Rostec head Sergey Chemezov about plans to resume production of the A-50 long-range radar surveillance aircraft, which had been lost during combat operations.
