Ukraine conducted another exchange of prisoners of war.
This time, it was possible to return 64 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were fighting in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this.
“Most of the freed soldiers were captured in the most difficult areas of the front: near Bakhmut, Soledar, Zaytsevo, and in other places of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” the Coordination Headquarters shared.
59 released prisoners of war are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, five more serve in territorial defense units.
23 servicemen are wounded, some of them in serious condition.
The release of U.S. citizen Suedi Murekezi was also announced.
Murekezi was captured by the Russian military in Kherson, where he lived for over 2 years. He was detained for allegedly participating in pro-Ukrainian protests.
Suedi Murekezi was tried in the self-proclaimed DPR for ‘inciting ethnic enmity’.
