The United Kingdom will continue to supply intelligence to Ukraine, partially filling the gap left by the information previously provided by Washington.
The Guardian reported on this, citing its sources.
The UK will also continue to supply its analysis of the raw data, though in line with normal intelligence practice it will not simply pass on US information obtained via long-established sharing arrangements between the two countries.
“They are not as far reaching as US capabilities, not at the same scale and not able to take their place,” a former Whitehall insider said.
But they will allow Ukraine to maintain some early warning from attack and a degree of deep strike capability into Russia.
This encompasses data collected from satellites, surveillance aircraft, and ground-based intelligence systems, as well as insights gathered through agent intelligence. Additionally, it includes information from open sources, which is carefully analyzed by specialized experts.
On March 5, it became known that the US had halted intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
Later, U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated that the United States was urging Ukraine to begin negotiations with Russia as a condition for resuming intelligence sharing and arms supplies.
The media has learned that the United States had prohibited the United Kingdom from sharing intelligence with Ukraine sourced from US intelligence.
Ukrainian Defense Forces used U.S. intelligence data to strike strategic targets in Russia and to target high-precision U.S. weapons for strikes near the front line.
The next day, Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of the Armed Forces, said that France was ready to share its intelligence with Ukraine, stepping in for the United States.
On Friday, March 7, Militarnyi reported that the American aerospace company Maxar Technologies had cut off Ukraine’s access to its satellite imagery.
