On March 1, a Royal Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet destroyed an Iranian drone. The enemy aircraft was heading towards Qatari territory.
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence in an official report on the results of the combat sortie.
The British aircraft was performing a mission as part of the joint 12th British-Qatari squadron based in Qatar. While on patrol, the pilot spotted the target and fired an air-to-air missile.
In January, four Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were deployed in Qatar at the request of the country’s government.
The 12th Squadron regularly rotates to Qatar, participating in joint exercises with the Qatari Air Force and partners from Bahrain and Oman.
Also, a Chinese satellite image from January 26 captured the deployment of American Patriot air defense systems at Al Udeid Air Base.
