Estonia handed over to the Ukrainian military drones that a Russian with dual citizenship had purchased for the Russian invasion army.

The Embassy of Estonia in Ukraine reported about this.

The man wanted to hand over the purchased drones to the Russian troops to use in the war in Ukraine.

“Remember an Estonian and Russian dual citizen who was trying to bring the drones for the Russian military?

In addition to his arrest, the Estonian security police seized the drones he bought and handed them over to the Ukrainian military,” the embassy noted.

In July, the Estonian court found three men guilty of supporting Russian aggression.

The Harju County Court found three men guilty of supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. They were engaged in purchasing drones for the Russian military.

The court found that 43-year-old Vladimir, in full awareness of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, publicly called to support Russia on VK social media platform on May 11. He organized a fundraising campaign to purchase drones for the Russian Armed Forces. The man has dual citizenship – of Estonia and the Russian Federation. He was employed as a long-distance driver at a Finnish company.

The court sentenced the man to one year in prison, four months of which must be served immediately. The other eight months are a conditional prison sentence with a 4-year probationary period.

The convict must also pay €1,632.60 in procedural costs. The drones were confiscated.

The Estonian court also charged two other men who, at Vladimir’s request, were transferring funds to purchase the drones. The court sentenced them to a five-month suspended sentence with a probationary period of one year and eight months.

Supporting the aggression of a foreign state is punishable by the Republic of Estonia with imprisonment for up to 5 years. Purchasing or funding equipment, such as drones, to be used in combat operations by the Russian army is considered to be support of the aggression against Ukraine.
