The Ukrainian Erebus group managed to shoot down 41 Russian reconnaissance drones.
According to volunteer Serhii Sternenko, this result was achieved by only one of the units to which he had provided special equipment.
The Russian drones were shot down by FPV drones modified to function as an air defense system.
“The 41 downed reconnaissance drones are the result of the work of the Erebus group of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade,” Sternenko said.
The video shows that Supercam S350, ZALA 421-16E and Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones were attacked.
The invaders use them to conduct reconnaissance of the frontline and rear areas of Ukraine, as well as to guide artillery and loitering munitions.
The interception itself is mostly carried out by FPV drones modernized for such tasks with a fragmentation and explosive warhead.
However, it is known that some military personnel also practice other methods of shooting down, such as ramming.
Russian operators of unmanned systems have already begun to adapt to the new threat and have begun to apply camouflage patterns to the fuselage of aircraft.
Intercepting reconnaissance drones with the help of other types of drones is a relatively new and promising direction in the development of air defense.
Previously, the Ukrainian reconnaissance drone Furia withstood a hit from an invader’s FPV drone.
In September, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Geran-2 (Shahed) drone, in which the invaders installed a Starlink terminal.
